Nearly thirty Florence residents have been displaced after a fire caused significant damage to their building Monday morning.
Around 7:30 a.m. fire crews were sent to 132 Honeysuckle Dr. The caller reported visible smoke and flames coming from the building, according to a press release from the Florence Fire Department.
When crews arrived on the scene, they saw flames coming from the roof of the two-story building, according to the release. Fire officials said all residents were accounted for and evacuated, but the fire had progressed, so firefighters focused on keeping it from spreading to other nearby buildings.
Fire officials determined the property, valued at $620,000, sustained significant damage. A total of 28 residents from five units were displaced. The American Red Cross was on scene assisting the displaced families.
It took units from four fire departments to extinguish the fire. Assisting Florence Fire on the call were Elsmere, Independence and Kenton County Air One from Edgewood. Crews from Erlanger, Independence and Union helped staff the stations while other departments were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
