The pedestrian hit and killed by a TANK bus last week has been identified as Dennis Michael Rahtz, 38, of Cincinnati.
Police were called to 4th and Scott streets Thursday, March 10 just before 12:30 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian struck.
Initially, police didn’t know who struck the man, but after looking at video of the incident, they were able to identify the TANK bus that hit him and then left the scene. Police say driver may not have initially known they had hit someone.
Police asked for the public’s help to identify the man, and after what they said was an outpouring of information, were able to identify Rahtz.
But Lt. Col. Brian Valenti did not release the name out of respect for the family until Monday.
“The incident remains under investigation,” Valenti said Monday in a release. “Investigators continue to gather information and will work with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to determine which, if any, charges may be filed.”
