Police are still working to identify the man killed by a TANK bus as he was crossing the street in Covington Thursday afternoon.
The vehicle drove away after striking the pedestrian.
After locating video of the incident, members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau learned that the victim was going southbound on Scott Street. The TANK bus was also traveling in the same direction on Scott Street. The bus then turned right onto 4th Street, striking the victim, who had just entered the crosswalk.
The bus has been located and police say the driver is cooperating with investigators. Police say the driver may not have been aware that they struck someone.
Once police gather more information, investigators will determine whether charges will be filed, police said.
The unidentified man, who police say appears to be in his 30s, was wearing a green Eugene Oregon 2019 marathon running T-shirt, black shorts, white shoes, a Garmin watch and a wedding ring.
Police said they believe the man was running from the area of the suspension bridge.
Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call Detective Brian Powers at 859-292-2375.
