Tom Baldridge said he is running for reelection to Alexandria City Council because he believes continuity on council is important as the city prepares for changes in its leadership.

Baldridge said the city has kept fees and taxes down, maintained a balanced budget and resurfaced streets during his time on council.

Baldridge faces Patrick Blair, Laura Fincher, Stacey Graus, Michael McGrath, Nick Sears and Christopher Vaught-Hall in the Nov. 3 general election.

“I like public service because I can inform citizens of what’s going on in the city,” Baldridge said. “I want transparency.”

Baldridge also pointed to the construction of Alexandria’s new community center, which includes meeting, workout and activity rooms, along with basketball and pickleball courts.

If reelected, Baldridge said one of his first priorities would be adding a walking track and playground at the new community center.

Baldridge said he would also like the city to review its current zoning map. He said Alexandria has new developments that its existing roads cannot handle and wants the city to examine those infrastructure concerns as development continues.
