Edwin King has been named as the new executive director of the Northern Kentucky Area Development District, often shortened to NKADD or simply the AD District.

King currently serves as the city administrator to Fort Mitchell and will take the reins from Executive Director Tara Johnson-Noem, who announced her plans to depart from the role last month. NKADD’s Board of Directors voted to name King to the position last Thursday. He will assume the role on Dec. 7.
“I am deeply grateful for the confidence the board has placed in me and humbled by the opportunity to serve in this capacity,” King said in a press release. “NKADD’s work touches so many aspects of life in our region, and leading an organization with such an important purpose is both an honor and a responsibility I do not take lightly. I look forward to working alongside our staff, board and partners to carry that work forward.”
King has a long career in public service. He has served as Fort Mitchell’s city administrator for the last six years and is a former president of the Northern Kentucky City/County Managers Association. He also previously served as the executive director of Kentucky Housing Corporation, served on the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Community Advisory Council and served on the Board of the National Council of State Housing Agencies.
He began his public service career in Washington, D.C., as a staff member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. He has a master’s degree in finance from the University of Maryland.
“We are confident that Mr. King’s experience at all levels of government service will position NKADD well for its next chapter,” said NKADD Board Chair Robb Adams, who also serves as the mayor of Carrollton.
The AD District is a statutorily established nonprofit agency that provides various public services for the eight northernmost counties in Kentucky. They provide services and expertise related to aging and disability services, development planning, financial compliance and management, municipal services and workforce development.
