Thomas “Tom” Cahill is an incumbent candidate for the Erlanger City Council. Erlanger’s council has nine seats, and there are fifteen candidates running for a spot on the council.

Cahill is currently serving his ninth term on the council (council terms are two years). He’s the director of respiratory and sleep medicine at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. A long-time resident of the city, Cahill said that being on the council was a way to “serve the city that’s given so much to my family.”

“I’ve always focused on the basics that matter most: keeping our streets in good shape, growing and improving our parks and making sure our Fire/EMS, police and public works teams have what they need to serve us well,” Cahill said.

Road infrastructure was his number one priority, he said.

“Whether you’re visiting for the day, running a business, heading to work or just getting the kids to school, our streets are something every single person in Erlanger depends on,” Cahill said. “We have done a good job of catching up with the problem areas. We still have a way to go and have a good plan that keeps us on track.”

In terms of future goals, Cahill said wanted to improve the city’s main fire house into a “a modern, functional facility that truly works for our crews around the clock.” He also indicated that strong financial health was another priority of his candidacy.
