Robin Shumate is challenging incumbent Cindy Young for the Division 4 seat on the Boone County Board of Education in the November 2026 general election.

The five-member school board oversees Boone County Schools, one of Kentucky’s largest public school districts. Each board member represents a geographic division of the county and serves a four-year term.

Young was first elected in 2022, defeating former board chair Julia Pile in a closely contested election.

Shumate is seeking to represent Division 4 as the district continues to address issues involving school funding, educational programs, staffing and facilities. Division 4 includes portions of central and southern Boone County, such as some areas around Union and Burlington.

LINK nky contacted Shumate with questions about her background, priorities and reasons for seeking office but did not receive a response before publication. This profile was created using publicly available information.
