Renee Skidmore is an incumbent on the Erlanger City Council and one of 15 candidates running for a seat. The council has nine seats.

Skidmore has been on the council since 2008. Her husband, Don Skidmore, and her daughter, April McKinney, are also running for spots on the council. Don Skidmore formerly sat on the council himself.

In addition to her duties on council, Skidmore is also a longtime volunteer in the city’s parks and recreation department and has participated in several programs dealing with education and drinking prevention among local teens.

“I would like to continue to make a positive impact and regain the trust of the citizens,” Skidmore said.

Skidmore said fiscal responsibility, city employee retention and transparency were her policy focuses.

She said she wanted to implement measures to “minimize financial waste.” One proposal included creating clauses in city employment offers that mandate the employee remain with the city for a certain amount of time or “they will have to reimburse the city for the cost of their training and/or certifications.”

“When you vote, think number 5 on the ballot,” she said.
