Michael Lippert is one of eight candidates running for a spot on the Lakeside Park City Council. There are six seats on the council.
Lippert works as the director of water works and assistant director of the public works department for the City of Wyoming, Ohio. He’s also provided engineering assistance to cities in Northern Kentucky.
“Lakeside Park is an excellent community,” Lippert said, adding that he wanted to ensure the city remained a city of “limited government.”
“What I like about Lakeside Park is the emphasis on basic local government services—public works, fire, police—that minimize the tax burden on residents,” said Lippert. “I would like to make sure limited government continues.”
He touted his experience as a municipal worker as a boon for holding elected office.
“I am familiar with local governments’ limitations and responsibilities,” Lippert said. “Local ordinances/regulations for the most part really impact residents more than state or federal statutes.”
If elected, he said he hoped to survey the community to get an idea of what residents’ priorities were. He pointed to zoning regulations as one area of possible change.
“My overall sense is that zoning is overly burdensome to some residents and has been compared to a condominium HOA by some people,” Lippert said. “Through meeting with residents and reviewing community surveys, I would like to get a further sense of specific zoning regulations that may need attention, and perhaps, modification. For example, detached structures and garages are one area that could use review.”
