Jennifer Jasper-Lucas is an incumbent candidate for the Erlanger City Council. There are 15 candidates running for the nine-seat council.
Jasper-Lucas is an Erlanger native and is currently serving her third term on the council. She works for an independent insurance agency. During her time on council, she has headed up several of the city’s task forces, including the Cherry Hill Semi Truck Task Force, which considered solutions to the incursion of semi traffic into the Cherry Hill neighborhood.
“My vision for Erlanger is a thriving, safe and transparent community where families and businesses choose to put down roots,” Jasper-Lucas said. “As your city councilwoman, my priority is keeping Erlanger affordable and accessible.”
Jasper-Lucas said she hoped to focus on three primary goals if reelected: lowering insurance premium taxes, supporting the city’s first responders and ensuring the city’s general financial well-being.
“My motivation to serve on city council stems from a genuine love for this community and a belief that local government has the most direct impact on our daily lives,” said Jasper-Lucas.
Jasper-Lucas is among the more vocal critics of current Mayor Jessica Fette and supports Fette’s opponent, Diana Niceley, in the upcoming mayoral election. She views the city legislative branch as a check on executive power.
“I firmly believe in an independent legislative branch that asks tough questions, utilizes open records when necessary to ensure clarity and holds city operations to high standards,” said Jasper-Lucas. “I don’t just look at the line items on a budget; I look at the long-term risk and value for our community.”
