Duane Froelicher is seeking a return to the Florence City Council, where he previously served three consecutive terms from 2015 through 2020.

He later remained involved in city government through the Florence Board of Adjustment and Zoning Appeals and ran for Florence mayor in 2022. In 2024, he unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for Kentucky’s 11th Senate District, losing to Steve Rawlings.

Froelicher is an investment adviser and owner of Walden Advisors. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Northern Kentucky University and has also served as president of the Florence Rotary Club.

As he seeks another council term, Froelicher identified traffic and development as significant issues facing Florence. He said the city should take a closer look at additional development along the U.S. 42 corridor and place greater emphasis on deteriorating roads and stormwater infrastructure.

“Our roads and storm drains are severely deteriorating and will be working with the
Kentucky Department of Transportation to get this fixed,” he told LINK nky.

Froelicher has also called for additional senior housing and regulations addressing e-bike safety. He opposes Florence’s use of automated license plate readers and supports removing the city’s Flock Safety cameras.

The city’s finances are another focus of his campaign. Florence disclosed in January that it had uncovered revenue diversion activity and referred the matter to the FBI, which opened a criminal investigation. Froelicher said his financial background would inform his oversight of city finances if elected.
