Don Skidmore is one of fifteen candidates running for a spot on the Erlanger City Council. There are nine seats on the council.

Skidmore is not currently on the council but previously served for ten years from 2014 to 2024. His wife, Renee Skidmore, is an incumbent candidate, and his daughter, April McKinney, is also a candidate in this year’s council race. Skidmore has been a resident of the city since 1968 and said he continues to attend council meetings, even though he’s no longer in office.

“I enjoy city government,” Skidmore said. “I like representing the city of Erlanger with a fair and open mind. I like being the ‘voice’ of the citizens and being fair and honest.”

Skidmore was active in the city’s parks and recreation program prior to taking office. He’s also regularly provided horse-drawn carriage rides for holidays and festivals around the city.

Skidmore said that restoring “trust between the citizens and city council” was one of his campaign priorities. He pointed to “a lack of transparency between a specific councilman as well as the mayor,” as one of the changes he’s witnessed on the council.

“I encourage EVERYONE to come out and vote (emphasis his),” Skidmore said. “WE NEED CHANGE!!!”
