Courtney Hundley is one of 15 candidates running for the Erlanger City Council, which has nine seats.
This will be Hundley’s first time running for office in Erlanger, and she said she was motivated to run after observing a 2025 council meeting where a grant was awarded to an LLC subsidiary of Hermes Construction, a company associated with Erlanger Council Member Tyson Hermes. Hermes recused himself from the vote, according to meeting minutes, but Hundley said it prompted her to think more deeply about ethics within the city.
Hundley has a master’s degree in public health. She worked as an analyst for the health department in Houston, Texas, working mostly on the COVID-19 response. She also helped implement a wastewater surveillance program, as well as a school testing program.
“Term limits are my first priority,” Hundley said. “Two terms for mayor (eight years total) and four terms for council members (eight years total) will be the first legislation I propose if elected. I appreciate the service given by our council and mayor over the years, but feel without any turnover stagnancy blossoms.”
She also identified the revitalization of the Dixie Highway Corridor and affordable housing as policy focuses. Finally, she was in favor of greater government transparency and said she was “alarmed” by this year’s establishment of a public records task force.
“Open records requests are a legal right for the public,” Hundley said. “We should maintain this open line of information between citizens and government.”
“It’s important to me to give back to my community,” Hundley also said.
