Corine Pitts is one of 15 candidates running for a spot on the Erlanger City Council. There are nine seats on the council. Pitts is not currently on the council but formerly served multiple terms through the end of 2020. She’s been a resident of the city for about 30 years.

Pitts works at a local bank. Although she’s been out of office for several years, she said, “I’ve never stopped caring about Erlanger or following the issues facing our city.” Within the past year, Pitts has been a frequent sight at council meetings, sometimes speaking during the meetings’ public comment sections.

“Our city has experienced significant staff turnover, and we’re now losing a couple of dedicated council members,” Pitts said. “Those changes have reinforced my belief that it’s time for me to return because I truly feel my service to Erlanger was left unfinished.”

Pitts said that transparency is one of the main campaign priorities. She especially has questions about the financial structure of the Eons Park project, which involves a city park but is managed by an officially independent nonprofit organization.

“I believe it’s time to focus less on politics and more on what matters, supporting and retaining our outstanding employees, spending tax dollars wisely, keeping taxes affordable, maintaining the excellent public safety services our residents deserve and restoring the teamwork that helps our city thrive,” Pitts said.

She encouraged residents to watch council meetings and stay informed about the goings-on of city government.
