Cindy Young is seeking a second term representing Division 4 on the Boone County Board of Education.
Young was first elected to the five-member school board in November 2022, when she challenged then-board chair Julia Pile.
She took office in January 2023 and is completing her first four-year term helping oversee Kentucky’s third-largest public school district.
During Young’s first term, the board has dealt with issues ranging from district finances and school facilities to educational programs and partnerships with outside organizations.
Young has at times questioned district spending and whether certain programs or partnerships provide enough value to Boone County students and taxpayers. In July 2024, Young joined two other board members in voting against renewing the district’s $10,000 membership in the Northern Kentucky Education Council, citing concerns about spending taxpayer money on an organization involved in lobbying. The council also offers professional development, scholarships and other educational programs.
As a board member, Young is also responsible for voting on the district’s budget, policies and other matters affecting Boone County’s public schools.
LINK nky contacted Young with questions about her background, priorities and reasons for seeking office but did not receive a response before publication. This profile was created using publicly available information and previous reporting.
