Chris Ampfer is seeking another term on the Cold Spring City Council because he said in a 2024 profile interview that he enjoys serving the community alongside Mayor Angelo Penque and believes the city has made significant progress during his time in office.
Ampfer faces Lisa Schmidt Cavanaugh, Steve Cunningham, Joe Heil, Paul Kloeker, Mason Meyer, Cindy Moore and Laura Vroegindewey in the Nov. 3 general election.
Ampfer said traffic remains the issue he hears about most often from residents. He said improving the U.S. 27 corridor should remain a priority.
“I would like the city to work with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to reduce traffic on U.S. 27 and make the corridor through the city more visually appealing,” Ampfer said in 2024. “Mayor Penque has mentioned initial conversations he has had with KYTC.”
Ampfer said his background as an engineer with more than 30 years of experience gives him a practical perspective when reviewing issues that come before the city council.
Ampfer said he hopes to continue using that experience to help guide Cold Spring’s growth while addressing residents’ concerns about traffic and infrastructure.
