Barry Brown is one of 15 candidates running for a spot on the Erlanger City Council. There are nine seats on the council.

Brown was born and raised in Erlanger and graduated from Lloyd HS. He worked for General Electric’s Aircraft Engine Department for 42 years before retiring in 2020.

“I’m from Erlanger, I love Erlanger, that’s why I’m doing it,” said Brown. “I always have said and always believe that Erlanger Fire Department and Police Department’s the best in Northern Kentucky.”

Brown emphasized the importance of teamwork and open communication for a body like the council.

“Erlanger’s such a wide area,” Brown said. “Some people on one side of Erlanger might not want the same thing that other people like. That’s why you got to work together, and that’s what I strive to do.”

One of the first things he’d like to do if elected, he said, would be to go on a ride along with the public safety departments and generally educate himself about the operations of the city.

“I would love to be able to do ride alongs with them, just to see what their job entails,” Brown said. He’d like to do similar things with the “city parks people, the city workers to see what their jobs are, and is there a better way to be able to use those people better.”

“Erlanger has always been a safe town, that’s what I want to keep it: safe,” Brown said. “That’s the key.”
