Ft. Mitchell Mayor Jude Hehman announced Thursday that he will seek a third term leading the Kenton County city of 8,500.
“Improvements to our business districts, infrastructure, police and fire services have been among my top priorities,” Hehman said in the announcement. “We are on the cusp of breaking ground for the major Drawbridge site development as well as the Brent Spence Bridge project that will heavily impact traffic in the city.
“I am looking forward to continuing my service to bring these projects to completion while balancing the city’s budget and holding the line on taxes.”
Hehman was first elected to city council at the age of 21 and then was out of city government until waging his first successful campaign for mayor in 2014. He was reelected in 2018.
Hehman has yet to draw an opponent. The candidate filing deadline is June 7 for offices that did not require participation in the May 17 primary.
The mayor is the founder of Furlong Building, a company with eighteen employees. Hehman was named Volunteer of the Year by the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky in April, received the Kentucky League of Cities Elected Official of the Year award in 2019, as well as the Leadership Northern Kentucky Leaders of Distinction award in 2019.
Hehman and his wife, Katie, have been married for twenty years and have four children.
