The Boone County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate the county’s Revolutionary War history at an upcoming event.

The organization will host a dedication ceremony for an America 250 Marker and Patriot Garden on Sept. 21 at the Boone County Historical Society Museum in Burlington. The event is free and open to the public.

The event, held in partnership with Boone County and the Boone County Historical Society, begins at 2 p.m. on Washington Street. It is part of a nationwide initiative leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

The program will showcase Boone County’s Revolutionary War heritage. Scheduled speakers include Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore, Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Michelle Keller, and Boone County Historic Preservation Planner Bridget Striker. Representatives from the Kentucky State Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Boone County Historical Society will also deliver remarks.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department Color Guard will participate in the ceremony, with musical performances by the Northern Kentucky University Women’s Choir. The group will perform the national anthem and “My Old Kentucky Home.

A reception with awards presentations and colonial music will follow inside the Old Courthouse/Ferguson Center at 2988 Washington Street in Burlington.
