Outdoor enthusiasts will soon have a new way to explore the scenic waters of Doe Run Lake.
On Feb. 11, the Kenton County Fiscal Court awarded a bid to Schack’s Yaks, a local kayak rental company, to bring paddling opportunities to Doe Run Lake. Starting this spring, visitors at the lake can rent kayaks on-site.
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance our County-owned parks,” Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said. “With kayak rentals, we can encourage more residents to get outside and enjoy what makes Kenton County special.”
All rentals include a universal life jacket and paddle, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all ages.
The rental process is simple. Kayak renters can download the Koloni app on Android or Apple to sign the waiver, make payment, scan the QR code to open the locker, and start their rental.
The company has similar self-service kiosks in Augusta, Carrollton, Newport and West Point.
Doe Run Lake, located in Erlanger, is a 75-acre reservoir known for its calm waters, lush forests and fishing. It also features several trail options for residents. It is one of seven county-owned parks.
