It may not have been a white Christmas, but winter weather is sure to be making its way to the region here soon, and we wanted to offer up some local activities to enjoy when snow eventually comes to town. We’ve also gathered a few you can enjoy inside to escape the cold.
Northern Kentucky Ice Center

Located in Crescent Springs, the center’s inside, so you don’t have to wait until it snows to check it out. The center offers public skating admission for $10 and skate rentals for $3. Plus, between Dec. 19 and New Year’s Day, the center will have extended public skating hours throughout the week.

Devou Park
Devou Park in Covington is the go-to destination for sledding in the region. The park provides a natural overlook to the Ohio River and sports a hilly topography, ideal for any speed freak looking to break their sledding records. Plus, there are other things, like the parks numerous walking trails, for those who choose to live life more slowly.

Florence City Parks

Specifically, South Fork and Lincoln Woods Parks, both of which are exceptionally hilly when compared to the city’s other parks. South Fork Park even has a mounded earthen sculpture, which the city’s website states is ideal for sledding.

Holly Jolly Days at Behringer-Crawford Museum
We get it; sometimes, you don’t want to go trekking out in the woods for something to do. Luckily, Behringer-Crawford museum has you covered with their annual Holly Jolly Days celebration events, which go from Nov. 11 to Jan. 7 and feature everything from evening mixers to model train exhibits to outdoor light shows.
