The Human Rights Campaign, one of the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy groups, recently rated Covington as one of the state’s most LGBTQ+ friendly cities, according to the organization’s annual Municipal Equality Index report, which measures how well cities protect their LGBTQ+ residents and employees. Covington scored a 100 out of 100.

“Covington is proud of the continued recognition of our LGBTQ+ inclusion through HRC’s Municipal Equality Index,” said City Manager Ken Smith in a recent press release. “It confirms what we know: Covington has a long history of being a welcoming city where we celebrate our diversity as a strength – not a weakness. We embrace our residents, business owners and visitors regardless of their place of origin, race, orientation, identity or faith. It’s become somewhat cliché, but we really do mean ‘all’ when we say ‘y’all.’ ”

Louisville and Lexington also scored 100 out of 100. Click here to view the Human Rights Campaign’s complete report.
