Behind BLINK: Artists put blood, sweat and lightbulbs into four-day event

Artists spent months designing intricate light displays, interactive games with sound and movement, and performers perfected routines for weeks leading up to BLINK, the four day event spanning Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. A look into the blood, sweat, and lightbulbs that made up the historic art-filled event this year.

Northern Kentucky is fortunate in that it’s one of the few regions that truly experiences all four seasons. Our summers may be blisteringly hot and our winters deathly cold, we are awarded the brief interlude of fall in between to carry us from one season to another.

Cincinnati may have the “worlds largest” but outside of Germany itself, Covington takes the schnitzel for most fun Oktoberfest. This series of photos captures all the dancing, accordions, stein hoistings, and history Covington’s Oktoberfest offers year after year.

The massive undertaking a newsroom faces to assemble a weekly edition print newspaper is tremendous. Stories, photos, interviews, editing (so. much. editing.) that sometimes it goes unnoticed by the reader – and that’s a good thing. This first edition cover photo is just an iota of the timing and luck it took to bring LINK nky to readers through a physical print edition.
