- Kush and Deep Patel open Kentucky’s third Teriyaki Madness at Union Promenade
- Fast-casual chain known for fresh, made-to-order Japanese-inspired dishes
- New restaurant joins rapidly growing Union Promenade development along U.S. 42
Kush and Deep Patel are the latest franchisees to bring a fast casual food concept to the ever-expanding Union Promenade development in Boone County.
Teriyaki Madness is a Japanese-inspired fast-casual restaurant that serves teriyaki-style dishes featuring grilled chicken, steak, tofu and stir-fried vegetables. Founded in Las Vegas in 2003, the business has expanded to around 230 locations across the United States.
The Patels opened Kentucky’s third location earlier in April. There are two other Teriyaki Madness stores in the state, both located in Lexington, although neither is owned by the Patels.
Kush, an experienced restaurant franchisee, already operates a Tropical Smoothie Cafe and an Eggholic, an Indian-inspired street-food franchise, along with two other Teriyaki Madness stores in Nashville and Columbus.
Kush said his family has over 20 years of experience owning and operating gas stations, convenience stores and restaurants, so entering the franchisee business was a natural next step for him. Kush chose the franchise because he believed in the quality of the food.
Deep, who oversees Teriyaki Madness’ day-to-day operations, concurred, emphasizing that the food is both fresh and made-to-order.
“We want to serve food that we believe in,” Deep said.
The Patels said the community has responded positively to Teriyaki Madness, with several customers visiting the store during its soft opening on April 9, even though neither of them advertised it. Deep noted that they felt Teriyaki Madness would be successful within Union Promenade because there were no similar restaurants within the development.
“We just love it, the community around here,” Deep said. “Everything’s just great.”
Kush said they signed a 10-year lease for the 1,600-square-foot space, with an option to extend upon its expiration. For Kush, Union Promenade was an ideal location because of the rapid commercial and residential growth along US-42 in Union.
Since breaking ground in July 2022, Union Promenade has transformed a significant section west of US-42 in Union. The development was designed to support large-scale retail, dining, medical and residential spaces along a growing corridor.
As of now, the development already hosts several well-known national chains and local businesses, including Chick-fil-A, Cincinnati Children’s, United Dairy Farmers, Elite MedSpa, Glamour Nails, Schlotsky’s Deli, and more.
Teriyaki Madness is open seven days a week, operating from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
