A Covington Korean-style chicken and beer pub announced its abrupt closure on Friday afternoon.

Chimaek, located at 405 Scott St., took to Facebook to thank their customers for the support they received since opening in November 2022.

“Thank you for all the support and love we’ve received till today,” read the post.

The Chimaek Facebook account administrator said the restaurant is working on a new idea for the space and will be introducing a concept in due time. They did not give a reason for closing.

The pub’s namesake is a combination of the Korean word for chicken, “chi”, and beer, which is “maekju.” It’s menu focused on chicken wings and tenders glazed in different sauces. For drinks, Chimaek offered a variety of domestic, craft and imported beers.

Chimaek was owned by Bruce and Yujin Kim, the same family who runs Riverside Korean on Madison Avenue.
