Newport residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief, their White Castle has returned.

The Newport White Castle location at 1 W 5th St. held its grand reopening Nov. 15 after undergoing renovations and taking on a meme-like role in the Newport Community Discussion group on Facebook over the last few weeks.

The city of Newport shared via Facebook the ribbon cutting that took place at the “home of the original slider” around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The post was flooded with comments from happy Newport residents:

“I am inside of the new White Castle. Who said dreams don’t come true?”

“Woo hoo, it really looks nice.”

“Coffee in the morning. Welcome back.”

The Facebook group even took to taunting at times, with people seeking out their White Castle fixes at locations outside of Newport.

This is the only White Castle in Newport after the closure of the Monmouth St. location—which was announced via Facebook to soon be a Biggby Coffee.

Minutes after the location reopened, Facebook posts littered the Newport Community Discussion group with photos of community members grabbing their sliders, alerting the public to the good news.
