Wenzel whiskey will be debuting their new, locally brewed whiskey — called the Proprietors’ Blend — next weekend.
On Sept. 10 at noon, Wenzel will be releasing 150 bottles of the first whiskey to be blended in Covington since Prohibition at their blending warehouse at 15 Tobacco Alley.
Bottles will be available for $150 plus tax, and the gift shop will be open with shirts and other merchandise for sale. Employees will also be on hand to answer any questions about the whiskey.
“To honor the Wenzel building’s past, we took the same recipe and let history repeat itself,” the company said in a release Thursday. “A real full-circle moment for us, blending this benchmark small batch of straight bourbon whiskey together for the first time reinstates the time-honored industry in our building’s 150th year, and in the city we love.”
To honor the building’s past, Wenzel purchased whiskey from various distilleries around the United States and then combined the best parts of those whiskies to create an even better one, said owner Bill Whitlow.
“Much more than that, the Proprietors’ Blend is a symbol of the experience we promise the people who visit us: the chance to gather together with friends, family, colleagues, and co-workers to thief from the finest barrels of whiskey,” the release said. “The Proprietors’ Blend is brand new, but Wenzel is where it’s been since 1873, and we couldn’t be more honored to finally share our story–and our selected barrels–with the world.”
