The third location for Roebling Point Books & Coffee, a downtown Covington staple that expanded into Newport’s East Row neighborhood, is coming to Dayton.

Owner Richard Hunt said Dayton provides the walkable community with a “strong inner core” that he looks for when opening new locations.

“What we see both here in Covington and in Newport is 85% of our customers are local,” Hunt said.

The Newport location opened on “Small Business Saturday”, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and Hunt said he is shooting for the same timeline with the Dayton location on 6th Avenue across from The Lodge.

“We just want to be a community resource, and it feels like Dayton is one of those communities where we can serve that purpose,” Hunt said.

According to their website, Roebling Point Books & Coffee celebrates the impact a good book can have on someone and their culture first and foremost.

Each location carries different books, and Hunt said they rotate their inventory so it doesn’t stay the same.

“We tried to keep it so that, once you’re regular, it looks different every time,” Hunt said. “There’s a little bit of merchandising fatigue if you walk in every time and see the same books.”
