The Northern Kentucky Health Department’s plan for a new health center built in Covington has finally resumed.

In November of 2016, the Kenton County Local Board of Health met to discuss finding a new location for the Kenton County (Dressman) Health Center. Meetings and discussions continued until March 2020, when the project was put on hold due to the abrupt arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new building will be located near the St. Elizabeth Hospital’s Covington campus, adjacent to its north parking lot at 1500 James Simpson Jr. Way. The building’s main floor will be 10,000 square feet with a basement that is 5,000 square feet and will include an approximate 55-space parking lot.

Construction will begin in the summer or fall of 2022. The project’s completion date is estimated to be mid-late 2022 to early-mid 2023 with a proposed move-in date. Citizens should expect construction traffic and construction noise during normal business hours. There will be street and alley closings off James Simpson Jr. Way and Kavanaugh Street.

The Kenton County (Dressman) Health Center aims to protect their residents well-being and promote healthy lifestyles. Their nurse practitioners, nurses, and dieticians provide clinical services such as a WIC program, breastfeeding support, women’s family health, family planning, immunizations, testing for tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis B and C, sexually transmitted infections, and the Syringe Access Exchange Program.
