Monday, July 4 is Independence Day and cities around Northern Kentucky are holding runs, parades and concerts to celebrate. Here’s a list of what’s happening where.

Bellevue:

First Friday- “Bellevue is Poppin”

When: July 1, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: Fairfield Avenue

What: Popsicle vendor/Fourth of July Theme

Covington:

Friends of Peaselburg Neighborhood Association Independence Day Parade

When: Monday, July 4, 11 a.m.

Where: St. Augustine School

Parade route: Leave St. Augustine schoolyard and turn left on 19th St, then left on Euclid Avenue, right on 18th Street, right on Holman Avenue, left on 19th Street, right on Augustine Street, right on 21st Street, right on Howell Street, left on 19th Street, right on Jefferson Avenue and back to St. Augustine.

A social gathering at St. Augustine follows the parade and there will be prizes for “youth dressed as an important American”, “youth best-decorated bicycle/wagon/stroller”, and best decorated float or car. Kona Ice will be on hand.

Edgewood:

5K race, Parade, Concert, Fireworks

The 43rd annual City of Edgewood/Tri-State Running Independence Day 5K race

When: July 4, 7:30 a.m.

Where: Presidents Park

What: The race includes divisions for runners and walkers and a children’s fun run.  Anyone interested in participating can register online here. Pre-registration is required and will end at 5 p.m. on July 3rd. Pre-registered participants will be able to pick up shirts, numbers, and chips at Tri-State Running, 148 Barnwood Drive.

Parade

When: July 4, 9:30 a.m.

Where: The parade will begin at the Caywood Elementary and Turkeyfoot Middle School campus

What: The city is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the parade. No walkers are permitted in the parade route, all participants must be mobile. Plaques will be awarded to the best original entry, best performing entry, and best entry honoring the theme. The theme is “Standing Strong; Hometown Hero’s.” Anyone interested in entering a float or vehicle in the parade must register online here. The plaques will be handed out following the parade at the flagpole in Presidents Park.

The parade Grand Marshall will be WWll Marine Corporal, Mr. Howard Requardt who served in The Battle of Okinawa. He is 96 and has lived in Edgewood since 1955.

Concert

When: July 4, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Freedom Park

What: Performance by the Derek Alan Band. The show will go on until dusk. Vendors will be available for the purchase of food and beverages.

Fireworks

When: July 4, the show will begin around 9:45 p.m.

Where: Freedom Park

What: A fireworks show. Blankets are recommended.

Florence:

Fireworks show

When: July 3, 10 p.m.

Where: The fireworks will launch from the City of Florence Department of Public Services Maintenance Building. Fireworks will be visible from Ewing Boulevard and Mall Road. The parking lot at the Florence Government Center will open to the general public at 8 p.m. 

What: Fireworks display. The soundtrack for the show is on WNKR 106.7 FM Classic Country.

Rain date: July 4, 10 p.m.

Ft. Mitchell:

Independence Day Parade

When: July 4, 12:30 p.m.

Where: Fort Mitchell City Building, 2355 Dixie Hwy

What: The City of Fort Mitchell Independence Day Parade

TBNK will broadcast the Fort Mitchell Independence Day Parade live from the city building. You can watch on TBNK’s Main Event Channel (Spectrum 200/Altafiber 819), and the City of Fort Mitchell Facebook page.

Ft. Thomas:

Parade, celebration, fireworks

Parade

When: July 2, 10:30 a.m.

Where: Starting at Highlands High School and ending at Tower Park.

What: Independence Day Parade

Celebration

When: July 2, 5 p.m.

Where: Tower Park

What: London Street and River City Band. Food and beverages will be available.

Fireworks

When: July 2, 10 p.m.

Where: Tower Park Amphitheater

What: Fireworks display

Independence:

Two day festival  

Friday’s events

When: July 1, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: Memorial Park

What: A festival with rides, games, live music, food, and circus acts

Festival- 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Circus Mojo brings aerial acrobats, fire jugglers, clowns, and more- 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Live music by HiFi Honey- 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Roman Candle Display- 10 p.m.

Saturday’s events

When: July 2, 10 a.m. to Midnight

What/Where: Car show, parade, live music, fireworks

Cars and Pipes Annual Car Show at the Kroger Marketplace- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Independence Day Parade starts at Summit View Academy, heading down Madison Pike to Simon Kenton High School- 3 p.m.
Memorial Park is open for the Fourth of July festivities (after the parade ends)- 4 p.m. to Midnight
Live Music from GenX- 7 p.m.
Vito’s Fireworks Show- 10 p.m.

Park Hills:

Sisters of Notre Dame Fourth of July Festival

When: July 4, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Notre Dame Academy, Park Hills

What: Fourth of July festival and celebrating the 100th year of the festival (that started in 1922.)
