Ky. Rep. Stephanie Dietz, a Republican from Edgewood, was honored last week for her policy work related to survivors of domestic violence.
ZeroV, a statewide coalition aimed at providing services to victims, presented its 2026 Champion of Justice Award to Dietz on Friday. The award was presented at the Ion Center for Violence Prevention’s Toast for Hope event in Newport.
“Domestic violence can be prevented by addressing its root causes and challenging cultural norms that tolerate abuse,” said Tisha Pletcher, CEO of ZeroV and award presenter. “Throughout her career, Representative Dietz’s legislative efforts on behalf of survivors have established a new standard for policymaking in Kentucky, where survivor safety is a priority, not an option, at every step of the policymaking process.”
Dietz represents Kentucky House District 65, which includes a chunk of Kenton County. She is up for reelection this year.
Earlier this year, Dietz sponsored and passed House Bill 611, which aims to establish greater policy protections for survivors of domestic abuse. The policies enacted by the bill include the creation of 10-year court protective orders upon conviction for domestic violence and dating violence felony assaults. It also created stricter requirements for data collection for Kentucky’s Annual Domestic Violence Data Report.
“For survivors of domestic violence, navigating the systems designed to support their safety can be an incredibly challenging experience,” said Christy Burch of The Ion Center. “We are grateful for Rep. Dietz’s commitment to ensuring survivors have access to the resources they need and for her work to lift up survivors’ voices to drive meaningful change across the Commonwealth.”
