Gary Winn is seeking another term on Florence City Council, where he has served for more than a decade.
A Boone County High School graduate, Winn attended Eastern Kentucky University and previously worked for the Bank of Kentucky. His community involvement has included the Boone County Businessmen’s Association and Florence United Methodist Church, among other organizations.
Winn has also represented Florence on the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments, commonly known as OKI, since 2015. The eight-county regional organization coordinates transportation planning and helps direct federal transportation funding across portions of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
Florence City Council reappointed Winn to the OKI board for another one-year term in December 2025. At past Florence City Council meetings, Winn has said his involvement with the organization gives the city a voice in regional transportation discussions and provides the city with information about potential funding for projects involving roads, sidewalks and other infrastructure.
Winn has also served on the council’s Planning and Zoning Committee. In 2016, he opposed a proposed self-storage development on U.S. 42, citing its inconsistency with Florence’s Comprehensive Plan and Central Florence Strategic Plan.
LINK nky contacted Winn with questions about their background, priorities, and reasons for seeking office but did not receive a response before publication.
