Viox & Viox recently hosted its second annual Civil Bites & Insights, a hands-on career exploration event designed to introduce high school and early college students to careers in civil engineering.
Recognizing that students have few opportunities to experience these careers before choosing a college major, the Erlanger-based firm created the program to provide an interactive, real-world look at the industry through design activities, conversations with professionals, and project site visits.
Following a successful inaugural event in 2025, Viox & Viox expanded Civil Bites & Insights from one day to two this year, welcoming 18 students from across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, up from five participants in the program’s first year.
During the five-hour experience, students completed a site design exercise, toured completed projects, participated in a land surveying demonstration featuring modern equipment, and learned directly from civil engineers, surveyors, and landscape architects about the many career opportunities within the industry.
“There aren’t many opportunities for students to explore civil engineering through hands-on learning before deciding what they want to study,” said Georgia Craddock, Marketing & Organizational Development Specialist at Viox & Viox. “Our goal is to help students better understand these careers, ask questions, and see how the work we do shapes the communities around them.”
Viox & Viox plans to continue growing the program in 2027 and encourages students, parents, teachers, and guidance counselors interested in future events to contact Georgia Craddock at gcraddock@vioxinc.com.
