TradesNKY, a nonprofit that provides trades training to students, is expanding its presence into five new schools in Kenton County: Holmes Middle School in Covington Independent Public Schools and Turkey Foot Middle School, Twenhofel Middle School, Woodland Middle School and Summit View Academy in the Kenton County School District.

“This expansion represents another major step forward in building strong workforce pathways for students across Northern Kentucky,” said Phil Griffin, co-founder of TradesNKY. “We know there is tremendous demand for skilled trades professionals throughout our region, and these partnerships allow students to begin exploring those opportunities earlier through hands-on experiences.”

The programs employ a proprietary curriculum called BUILD, which introduces students to a variety of trades, including the construction trades, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other skilled crafts.

The expansion was made possible through an injection of COVID emergency funding from the Kenton County Fiscal Court. The money can be used to purchase equipment and convert conventional classrooms into trades classrooms.
