Barleycorn’s Brewhouse is hosting a tapping party to benefit the Wilder Fire Department, which has had its largest fundraiser canceled this year.
The brewhouse will host its annual Wildfire Irish Red Ale Tapping Party on Wednesday, April 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the restaurant’s Wilder location at 402 Licking Pike. The event supports the Wilder Fire Department and its Ladies Auxiliary, which typically relies on proceeds from their annual fish fry, an event that will not take place this year due to rising food and supply costs.
The fundraiser has added meaning as Barleycorn’s Brewhouse is located in the former Wilder firehouse, creating a connection between the brewery and the firefighters it now supports.
“This event has become a meaningful way for us to give back to the Wilder Fire Department and support the important work they do for our community,” said Barleycorn’s Brewmaster, Shane Treg. “With the fish fry canceled again this year, we’re proud to step in and help continue that support.”
The Wildfire Irish Red Ale, brewed specifically for the occasion, will be tapped at 6 p.m. The first 75 guests to order the beer will receive a complimentary collectible Wildfire pint glass.
Additional event highlights include $1 wings available all day (Wednesday special) and raffle baskets benefiting the Wilder Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Proceeds from raffle ticket sales will directly support the Ladies Auxiliary and its ongoing efforts to assist local firefighters and their families.
“This is a huge thing for our department,” said Wilder Fire Chief, Doug Neyman. “Having the community come out and support us and show us their appreciation really means everything to us.”
“The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend, enjoy the limited-release beer, and support local first responders,” added Trego.
