Brett Bockmon, a senior at Simon Kenton High School in Independence, Kentucky, has been named one of six recipients of the Thomas J. Klinedinst, Jr. Memorial Students of Integrity (SOI) Scholarship, earning a $5,000 award to support his post-secondary education.

Bockmon was selected from hundreds of applicants across BBB Cincinnati’s 22-county service area, which includes Northern Kentucky, Southern Ohio, and Southeast Indiana. Since 2003, the BBB Center for Ethics Students of Integrity Scholarship has awarded high school seniors whose values align with ethical leadership. This year’s essay prompt explored “hustle culture” and the ethical implications of taking shortcuts when students are under pressure to succeed.

Bockmon is a member of the Simon Kenton High School varsity baseball team, the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). He is also an alumnus of the 2025 Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Regional Youth Leadership Program and was named a 2025 Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky, where he will major in business finance with a minor in international business. He hopes to pursue a career in investment banking, private equity or business analytics.
