UPDATE: The Covington Board of Commissioners approved the trails and the funding for the trails at their meeting on April 28, 2026.–LINK nky editorial, April 28, 2026.

Covington is considering adding roughly a mile of new trails in Devou Park to connect it to Cityview Station, the new Fischer Homes development in Ludlow.

The Covington Board of Commissioners heard a proposal for the trails on Tuesday. Horizon Community Funds, specifically the Chase and Cole Fischer Foundation, has offered about $108,000 in grant money to fund the trails’ construction. Dirt Artisans, a Covington-based contractor, has been named as the primary contractor for the project.

The trail planning began about two years ago, according to Covington Parks and Recreation Director Greg Stacy. Fischer Homes reached out to him, looking for a way to connect Devou to their new development.

“These new trails will run through largely unused sections of Devou,” said Stacy.

The proposed trial will add a mile to the roughly 16 miles of existing trails.

Accepting the grant was placed on the consent agenda for next week’s meeting, meaning it will likely pass.
