Northern Kentucky University and LifeSciKY are teaming up to support regional talent retention and expand the university’s role in the area’s growing life sciences sector.
LifeSciKY, an incubator for life sciences labs located in Covington’s OneNKY Center, will collaborate with NKU by sharing resources such as lab equipment, faculty expertise, and opportunities to collaborate with regional startups.
“This partnership with LifeSciKY is just one of the many steps NKU is taking to build upon our longtime strengths in the sciences,” NKU President Cady Short-Thompson said in a news release. “Together, we will nurture a thriving life sciences ecosystem alongside our region’s entrepreneurs and innovators that will benefit not only the Northern Kentucky region, but wherever our students chose to take their expertise.”
The collaboration builds on Northern Kentucky’s expanding life sciences ecosystem, which is in close proximity to major institutions such as St. Elizabeth Healthcare and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, as well as three of the nation’s top 20 contract research organizations: CTI, Medpace and PPD.
“The partnership with NKU plays a key role in strengthening Northern Kentucky’s position as a growing center for life sciences,” said Christin Godale, executive director of LifeSciKY in the release. “We’re excited to see how this collaboration will spark innovation, expand the regional talent pipeline, and shape the future of biotechnology and healthcare.”
