The Boone County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy, which provides citizens from around the county to enroll in an 11-week program that will provide them first-hand instruction and observation of the office’s services, issued a “last call” for applicants on social media this week.
“The academy will provide those participating with an opportunity to learn more about the 256 square miles of Boone County and its 135,968 residents,” according to the sheriff’s website. “Additionally, the experience offers an interactive opportunity to learn more about the complex and diverse service(s) that our Office provides to its customers.”
The academy will take place on Wednesday evenings, beginning on Sept. 10 and continuing until Nov. 19. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and cannot have felony charges. You can learn more about the academy, including how to apply, at boonecountykysheriff.com.
