Boone County Commissioner Jesse Brewer filed a statement of spending intent with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, indicating his intention to rerun for the office of county commissioner in 2026.
“Boone County is our home, and we’re going to fight to keep it safe, strong, and free,” said Brewer in a news release. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but there’s more work to do. I’m running for reelection to keep our government efficient, improve our infrastructure, defend our constitutional rights, and protect the values that define who we are.”
The filing, dated April 17, is required for any candidate who wishes to raise and/or spend more than $5,000 during an election. It is the required first step for campaign fundraising and spending in Kentucky.
Brewer will also have to file with Boone County as a candidate in order to appear on the ballot in the May 2026 primary election. Candidates cannot file with the county until Nov. 5, 2025, and they have until Jan. 9. 2026, according to Boone County Clerk Justin Crigler.
Brewer and his family have lived in Boone County for more than 25 years. He was elected in 2018 to serve on the Boone County Fiscal Court as the District 3 Commissioner.
