A Florence woman and her dogs have been safely rescued after she fell into a lake Sunday evening, according to the police.
Officers from the Florence Police Department responded to a call at around 6:40 p.m. Sunday night after receiving reports of a woman falling through the ice on the lake behind 26 Rio Grande Circle in Florence.
With the help of Boone County Sheriff’s deputies, the police were able to locate the woman about 100 feet away from the shoreline, according to a police press release. The woman’s identity was not given in the police statement.
“It appears she was trying to get her dogs off the ice when she fell through,” the police statement reads. “The officers on scene were able to crawl out onto the frozen lake and pull her out of the water and get her to medical personnel. She is believed to have been in the lake for approximately 10 minutes before being rescued.”
She was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and was later released. The dogs were also rescued from the lake and have made a full recovery, per the statement.
