FRANKFORT, KY (Dec. 9, 2024)—Senate Majority Leadership has announced committee assignments for Senator-elect Matt Nunn, R-Sadieville, who will represent Kentucky’s 17th Senate District, including a southern portion of Kenton County. Nunn will be a member of the Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor Committee and Co-chair of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Economic Development, Natural Resources, and Environmental Protection.
“We’re excited to welcome Matt to the Kentucky Senate and trust he is going to do an excellent job representing one of the fastest growing Senate districts in Kentucky,” said Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester. “With his extensive private sector success and distinguished service in the Kentucky Army National Guard, he brings a beneficial perspective to our chamber. Matt understands the challenges small business owners face and what it takes to create an environment where they can thrive. His committee assignments are well-tailored to his expertise and commitment to advancing policies supporting Kentucky’s continued upward economic trajectory.”
Nunn was also appointed to the Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee, the Licensing and Occupations Committee, and the Agriculture Committee. He will also serve on the Legislative Oversight and Investigations statutory Committee.
“I am deeply thankful to Senate leadership for entrusting me with these responsibilities,” Nunn said. “These committees will tackle issues fundamental to me and the counties of Scott, Grant, Kenton, and Fayette, from fostering economic development to supporting our agricultural communities and ensuring fiscal responsibility. I look forward to hitting the ground running on January 7 and representing the values and priorities of the people of the 17th District.”
Nunn is a retired Kentucky Army National Guard commissioned officer and a small business owner with a long history of community involvement. He has served on regional boards such as the Georgetown-Scott County Chamber of Commerce and Scott County United. Nunn has volunteered in his church and local organizations like Habitat for Humanity. He and his wife, Ashley, reside in Sadieville with their two children, Emma and Easton.
