Crestview Hills City Council honored retired police officer Shawn Kleier and welcomed officer Joel Tignor as he stepped into the role during its August meeting.
According to Chief of Police Brad Degenhardt, Tignor comes to Crestview Hills from the Kenton County Sheriff’s Department with 13 years of experience in law enforcement. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Tignor has a “vast amount of training and experience coming along with him,” said Degenhardt. “We’re happy to have him.”
“I really appreciate the opportunity to be here,” Tignor said. “I’ve been to a couple of different places, but I’ve already told a lot of people, including my family, that it already feels like home. I’m a family man.”
Council member William Dorsey said that Kleier was “like the grandpa” of the department and will be missed. According to Dorsey, officers went to Kleier for advice and looked up to him.
“There’s no way that I can fill [Kleier’s] shoes, but I can definitely do the best I can to be there for everybody else like he was,” said Tignor.
