Newport-based New Riff Distilling took home multiple medals at the annual New Orleans Spirits Competition.
The competition judges spirits and other beverages from distributors worldwide. Each spirit was blind taste-tested and then judged by a panel of industry experts. Awards were presented at the Tales of the Cocktail conference, which took place from July 21 to 26 in New Orleans.
In order to qualify, the spirit must be legal to serve in the United States or receive a special waiver from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.
Below is a list of medals awarded to each New Riff spirit in this year’s competition:
Gold medals: New Riff 8-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey; New Riff Kentucky Single Barrel Rye Whiskey.
Silver medals: New Riff Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey, New Riff Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, and New Riff Kentucky Sour Mash Single Malt Whiskey.
Bronze medal: New Riff Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey.
