The St. Henry boys and girls soccer teams won over the weekend in the All “A” state sectional round and advanced to the state tournament this weekend in Louisville.
Tied at 1-1 after regulation, the Lady Crusaders took down back-to-back All “A” state champ Bishop Brossart in penalty kicks (4-1) while the Crusaders cruised past Calvary Christian, 7-0.

Anna Bain’s goal in the 63rd minute on an assist from Hayden Harlan tied things up with the Lady ‘Stangs before they went on to win in penalty kicks on Saturday at St. Henry.
Anna Yuskewich, Ava Waymeyer, Bella O’Neill and Mady Lux scored the penalty kicks, Lux with the game-clincher. Kaylee Ryan was lights out in goal, making five saves during the contest and stopped two Brossart kicks in the penalty kick shootout.
They’ll now head to Louisville on Friday to face University Heights Academy, champion out of the 2nd Region. Friday’s game is at 11:45 a.m. at Louisville Collegiate. If they win that, they head to the semis on Friday at 6 p.m. The championship match is Sunday at 11 a.m.
BOYS: St. Henry 7, Calvary Christian 0
Leo Bowen and Landon Schmidt scored two goals each as the Crusaders ran away from Calvary in the second half.
Layne Waymeyer, Nikolas Maher and Joseph Hollman also found the back of the net in the victory. Bowen added two assists, Cameron Stewart, Patrick Schneider and Cooper Gastright also recorded assists in the victory. Landon Schuler earned the clean sheet in goal.
St. Henry advances to face Danville on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. at Louisville Collegiate. The semis are Saturday at 6 p.m. with the championship to be played Sunday at 1 p.m.
