Riley Maddox, a senior at Notre Dame Academy, was honored with Erlanger’s 12th annual secondary education scholarship, worth $2,500, at a ceremony at the Erlanger City Building Tuesday night.
Mayor Jessica Fette and Annette Gray, the mother of last year’s recipient, Katherine Gray, who is currently a student at the University of Tennessee, presented the award.
Gray thanked the city for the scholarship her daughter received before turning the podium over to Mayor Fette and Maddox.
Fette, who was the very first recipient of the scholarship, proclaimed May 3 as Riley Maddox Day in Erlanger.
“I just want to say thank you to all of you for the scholarship,” Maddox said.
“I’m going to be in your seat one day,” she added, addressing Fette.
Maddox will attend the University of Louisville next year where she will major in political science and double minor in Spanish and philosophy.
