After a long day of elections, Kenton County Clerk Gabrielle Summe finalized the results at 10 p.m. on the dot. With limited Democratic challengers at a countywide level, the most competitive races were at the municipal and school board levels.

Judicial

The Kenton County Family Court Second Division race was won by Terri King Schoborg who defeated Carl Knochelmann Jr., 26,475 to 13,240 votes.

The Kenton County Family Court Second Division race was won by Tom Rauf who defeated four other challengers.

For the Kenton County District Court 3rd Division race, incumbent Kate Molloy defeated Jason Edward Hiltz, 22,812 to 13,751 votes.

For the Kenton County District Court 2nd Division race, incumbent Ken Easterling defeated Jamir Davis, 23,222 to 11,372 votes.

Countywide Offices

Republicans faced little competition in the mission to resecure offices in the county government. Democrat challengers were few in far between. In fact, there were only two Democrats running for county office.

Incumbent Marc Fields (R) beat George Exterkamp (D) in the jailer race 30,710 to 18,490 votes. However, Don Catchen I (D) beat Thomas Dennis 7,148 to 6,288 votes.

Every other candidate running for countywide office won by facing no challengers:

  • Clerk Gabrielle Summe (R).
  • Property Valuation Administrator Darlene Plummer (R).
  • Sheriff Charles L. Korzenborn (R).
  • County Commissioner District 1 Beth Sewell (R).
  • County Commissioner District 2 Jon E. Draud (R).
  • County Commissioner District 3 Joe Nienaber Jr. (R).
  • Coroner Amber Constantino (R).
  • Magistrate 1st Managerial District 1 Stephen L.J. Hoffman (D).
  • Magistrate 2nd Managerial District 2 Mary Lou Blount (R).
  • Magistrate 3rd Managerial District 3 Katherine W. Shumate (R).
  • Constable District 2 Paul Woodard (R).
  • Constable District 3 Michael Moffitt (R).

School Board

In the Covington Board of Education race, incumbent Jerry Avery was defeated. He finished in third place while Valerie Rose finished in fourth. There were two seats up for grabs. Kareem Simpson and Hannah Edelen were the two newcomers elected to the school board.

There were three available seats in the Beechwood Board of Education race, with incumbents Jeanne Berger and Amy Miracle Sleet winning Brad Hood is the newcomer elected to the board. Sleet won the most votes with 1,258.

Two incumbents were reelected in the Erlanger-Elsmere Board of Education race between Sarah Shackelford and Rachel Retherford. Andrea Humpert was the third place vote getter. There were three available seats.

The Ludlow Board of Education race, all three incumbents were elected to the three available seats: Kym King, Wesley Dorger and Amy Hayden.

Municipal

In Kenton County, municipal are designated as non-partisan.

Bromley saw eight candidates running for six seats. Incumbents Reagan E. France, Michael E. Kendall, David O. Radford, Tim Wartman and Dianne Wartman all won. Newcomer Gail Smith unseated incumbent Matthew Wartman.

Incumbent Michael E. Denham defeated challenger Zachary Kordenbrock to remain mayor.

In Crescent Springs, there were seven candidates running for six seats. Incumbent Patrick Hackett was defeated. The council will now consist of Donald J. Keily, Mark Wurtenberger, Carol McGowan, William David Schult, Brian S. Barclay and Jeannine Bell Smith.

Mike Daugherty defeated Jeff Smith in the mayor’s race.

In Edgewood, longtime mayor John Link handily defeated challenger Mike Thelen.

For their city council race, there were nine candidates running for seven seats. Every single incumbent was reelected. Scott Spille becomes the newcomer on the council with Darla Kettenacker, Kim Wolking, Rob Thelen, Ben Barlage, Jeff Schreiver and Joe Messmer being reelected.

The Erlanger city council shrunk from 12 seats to nine. Thirteen people ran for city council. Incumbent Diana Niceley won reelection and earned the most votes. Other incumbent winners included Thomas Cahill, Rebecca Reckers, Jennifer Jasper-Lucas, Tyson Hermes, Renee Skidmore, Victoria Kyle and Don Skidmore. Newcomers include Renee Wilson. Incumbent councilman and former Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton Chief of Staff Steve Knipper finished in last place.

In Elsmere, there were six seats available with only five candidates running. Maria Vogt, Joanne Barnett Smith, Malcolm Xavier Daniels, Serena Owens and Missy Enxel Tester were all elected.

For the Fort Mitchell city council, there were seven available seats with eight candidates running. Greg Pohlgeers, Jeff Dietrich, Vicki Boerger, Jerry Deatherage, Michael Stoeckle, Alyson Roeding and Kim Nachazel were all elected.

There were six available seats in the Fort Wright city council race with eight candidates running. All incumbents were reelected: Justin Weber Jr., Margie Witt, Bernie Wessels, David Abeln and Scott Wall. Jason Collins is the newcomer to the council.

Incumbent mayor of Independence Chris Reinersman cruised to victory over challenger Desiree Hammond.

For the Independence city council, eight candidates ran for six available spots. Incumbent David Schafer was defeated, while newcomer Greg Steffen was elected. Incumbents Carol Franzen, Chris Vogelpohl, Amy Engelman, Thomas Brinker and Greg Waite were all reelected.

The Ludlow City Council had six available seats with seven candidates running. All incumbents running were reelected: Brie Banks, Stephen Chapman Sr. and Julia Terry Navarre. Samantha Matthews Frank, Abigail Miller and Lori Davenport are the newcomers to the council.

In Park Hills, there were six available spots with seven candidates running. Incumbent Anthony Darin finished in last place. Incumbents Sarah Froelich, Pamela Spoor, Joseph Shields and Steve Elkins were reelected. Newcomers Monty O’Hara and Joe Daugherty was elected.

Incumbent mayor of Taylor Mill Daniel Bell won over challenger Michael Blackburn.

In the Taylor Miller city council race, all incumbents were reelected: Caroline Ann Braden, Mark Kreimborg and Daniel Murray. Newcomer Ed Kuehne was also elected.

Finally, seven candidates ran for six seats for the Villa Hills city council. Five incumbents were reelected: Seth Thompson, Scott Ringo, Cathy Stover, Jim Cahill, Suzanne Wadsworth. Newcomer Kyle Walsh was also elected.

Correction: Incumbent Renee Skidmore was reelected in Erlanger. Frank Wichmann finished in 10th place.
