The historic Covington home of Mary Florence Taney will receive an historic marker on Saturday.
The Kentucky Historical Society will join the Kentucky Society Colonial Dames 17th Century on March 9 at 4 p.m. to unveil the new historical marker at 312 Garrard Street.
Taney, who lived from 1856 to 1936, is credited with founding three national heritage organizations: the National Society of the Colonial Daughters of America, the National Society Colonial Dames 17th Century, and the National Society Dames of the Court of Honor.
She was also a community leader and author. She wrote Kentucky Pioneer Women and was the state’s first female notary public.
