This story has been updated to include the names of the two men involved.
One man is dead and another injured after the second double shooting in four days at a Covington intersection.
Police said Tuesday night that an argument on the 300 block of East 13th Street between two men prompted witnesses to call for help, but as officers were en route to the scene, gunshots rang out and the two men went down.
Covington Assistant Police Chief Rob Nader said late Tuesday night that one of the men died at the hospital while the extent of the injuries of the other man were not made public.
“It’s another tragic night following just a couple days ago with another tragic shooting,” Nader said. “We are desperately asking our community for help and for information on this shooting.”
Antonio Bandy, 25, of Covington, died of his gunshot wounds. The other man, Marcus Broadus, 40, is still being treated.
RCN’S LIVE REPORT FROM THE SCENE:
While speaking to the media on the scene earlier Tuesday, Nader said that police were not actively looking for a suspect at that time, but in a news release hours later, Nader said a suspect or suspects are still on the loose. He said he could not say whether the shooting victims shot each other.
It was also not clear whether Tuesday’s shooting was related to Saturday’s. Two people were shot near the same intersection – where 13th hits Wheeler Street – on Saturday afternoon. Lazuri Collins, 24, later died from her injuries. Antonio Collins, 41, was treated and released. No arrests in that case have been announced.
Covington Police ask that anyone with helpful information call 859.356.3191.
