Sports is the place for you! Geoff Gray, the owner, bought this franchise in
the year 2000. Recycled sports equipment is something which everyone can
afford. This is not a consignment shop; this shop sells new and used sporting
goods equipment. So there is no fee to sell or trade your items.
“Not everyone can afford new equipment and
this store gives people a place to get rid of their used equipment buy what
they need and make some money,” said Gray.
Play It Again
Sports caters to all ages from the young who are just starting to play sports
for the first time to the seniors who are just trying to keep in shape.
Everybody is welcome.
With so many
sports now a days, their biggest sport selection is baseball and softball. Second is fitness, then golf. Bats, gloves, and baseball accessories are their
best sellers but they also sell cleats. Football, baseball, and soccer cleats
are all sold there.
“Some people are hesitant on buying second
hand cleats but we sell many. We also clean them up and sell them at a very low
price depending on condition. Look at what new cleats sell for today and you
will see that Play it Again Sports should be your first pick,” said Gray.
Buying and
trading is a big part of this business. Many people wonder how store policies
may work. With Play It Again Sports, when an item is brought into the store
they determine prices by the used retail price.
“A buy would be 30% of
that retail price. Trade would be 40% for other items in the store. Then consignment
would be 50% of the retail price after it sells,” said Gray.
The return policy is
also great also. Any new item may be returned with 30 days if the item was
unused. For the used items you must return them within 7 days and you will
receive an in store credit.
To all players,
coaches, and parents in the area who have kids in little leagues you may be
eligible for a discount. So have you group contact Gray and see if you can work
out any deals.
Bert McKinny has been
a loyal customer to Play It Again Sports since 1995; he is also a baseball
coach who looks for baseball gear to give to not only his kids but also his
players. What made him stay loyal to Play It Again Sports are the friendships
he developed through out the years with the staff.
“They know me by name and are very welcoming every time I walk through
the door,” said McKinny.
Friendships are not
the only thing that McKinny likes about this business.
“Best thing about Play It Again Sports is when you take stuff in to sell
you’re able to pay it forward for the kids that want to try out a new sport. So
they’re able to get good used equipment to get started. If it doesn’t work for
them they’re able to come back and resell the product so someone else can try
it,” said McKinny.
Word around town is
that Gray maybe selling the business. His family moved here 15 years ago from
Florida and now they are moving back. Gray will be here until he finds the
perfect person to take over. So if you are interested in owning your own

“This is a great family business with positive growth from the last few
years. The franchise parent company is very helpful and gives much
support. It’s been a fun business and I have seen many of our customers
who were kids growing up shopping at the store,” said Gray.
